Citrox®
01
Nature-Derived. Patented. Broad-Spectrum.
Citrox® is a proprietary, water-based complex combining selected citrus bioflavonoids with naturally occurring organic acids. Developed through decades of research, its specific formulation provides a versatile foundation for anti-pathogenic, protective and health-related applications.
02
What Is Citrox®?
01
Selected Citrus Bioflavonoids
Plant-derived compounds obtained from upcycled citrus and selected for their antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and healing-related potential.
02
Naturally Occurring Organic Acids
Complementary organic acids work alongside the selected bioflavonoids to support the complex’s anti-pathogenic activity.
03
Patented Complex Formulation
Citrox® derives its performance from a specific proprietary combination, not simply from its individual ingredients used separately.
03
What Sets Citrox® Apart?
Plant-Based & Upcycled
Citrox® uses bioflavonoids derived from upcycled citrus, transforming a natural by-product into a valuable technology resource.
Non-Toxic & Non-Allergenic
The complex has been developed and safety-assessed to provide effective performance without synthetic fragrances or colourants.
Food-Safe Ingredients
Citrox® is formulated using ingredients with established food-safety recognition, including GRAS-recognised ingredients where applicable.
Highly Versatile
The complex can be adapted across healthcare, food, hygiene, agriculture, personal care and material-treatment applications.

Biofilm, Virucidal Activity & the Microbiota Barrier

01
Biofilm-Disrupting Activity
Citrox® has demonstrated biofilm-disrupting activity, helping to break down established biofilm structures and interfere with microbial adhesion. Further studies are under way across additional organisms and applications.

02
Virucidal Against Enveloped Viruses
Citrox® has demonstrated virucidal activity against enveloped viruses, including successful EN 14476 testing using Vaccinia virus. Under the specified concentration and contact time, the tested Citrox® preparation inactivated the virus and prevented continued infectivity.

03
3D Microbiota Barrier
In selected surface formulations, Citrox® technology creates a transparent layer that reaches into microscopic surface irregularities. This barrier helps reduce the adhesion and accumulation of moisture, dirt and biological material.

04
Complementary Protection
Biofilm disruption, virucidal activity and surface modification provide complementary approaches to managing microbial contamination and supporting more effective cleaning.
05
Tested Broad-Spectrum Activity
01
Bacteria
Citrox® preparations have been evaluated against selected Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including antibiotic-resistant strains.
02
Viruses & Protozoa
Testing includes selected enveloped and non-enveloped viruses, together with protozoa relevant to human, animal and agricultural health.
03
Yeasts, Fungi & Moulds
Citrox® has also been evaluated against selected yeasts, fungi and moulds relevant to health, food and environmental applications.
07
One Complex, Multiple Applications

01
Healthcare & Wellbeing
Research spanning wound care, respiratory health, antimicrobial resistance and food supplements.

02
Oral & Personal Care
Applications across oral hygiene, hand hygiene, intimate care and specialist personal-care formulations.

03
Food Protection
Technologies supporting food safety, decontamination, preservation and shelf-life extension.

04
Animal Health & Agriculture
Applications involving animal feed, aquaculture, drinking-water treatment and pathogen management.

05
Hygiene & Decontamination
Technology for professional cleaning, air hygiene, microbial management and decontamination.

06
Materials & Surfaces
Protective and functional treatments for textiles, cellulose materials, infrastructure and other surfaces.
08
Supported by Research
Citrox® technology is supported by patents, independent laboratory evaluation, recognised EN test methods and research across multiple applications. Results relate to the Citrox® preparations and laboratory conditions evaluated. Research into biofilm disruption and further applications is continuing.
Detailed information about tested organisms, applicable standards and independent studies is available on our Testing & Certifications page.
